Portugal Winger Simao Hails Cristiano Ronaldo's Form Ahead Of Finals

Winger Simao has declared that team captain Cristiano Ronaldo is in the best possible form going into next month's World Cup finals and added that the Real Madrid star will get even better at the tournament in South Africa.

Ronaldo has scored five times in his last two appearances for los Merengues to keep their Primera liga hopes alive and Simao has stated that the "phenomenal" 25-year-old is "super important" to Portugal's hopes.

"I know Cristiano well and I know what he can do. He's playing at his best and that's not easy considering it's his first season at Real Madrid, he has 25 goals in the league and seven in the Champions League. I think that is phenomenal," stated the 30-year-old winger.

"Cristiano is a super important player for Portugal. I am pleased by the level he is playing at and I think he will be better at the World Cup.

Simao also noted that his team-mates will have to be at their best to make an impact at the finals, especially given the strength of their Group G opponents. The Portuguese face Brazil, Ivory Coast and North Korea in the group stages.

"We can always dream, but we have a very difficult group. If our players are at a very high level it will be easier," he added.
